Assistant Medical Director for Montefiore Medical Center/ Montefiore Medical Group School Health Program

Montefiore School Health Program (MSHP), the largest network of comprehensive School-Based health centers in the nation, offers wide ranging integrated health care services to nearly 40,000 students attending New York City Department of Education public schools in the Bronx borough and expanding into lower Westchester County.

Position Overview

The Assistant Medical Director, in collaboration with the Medical Director and the Nursing leadership is responsible for assuring the continuous delivery of high-quality medical care at the Montefiore School Health Program health centers, in compliance with all standards and regulations of Montefiore Medical Center and outside regulatory agencies. The Assistant Medical Director position will be a half-time position, complementing the associate's half-time position for direct patient care.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee physician and nurse practitioners, including supervision, one-on-one coaching, problem resolution, discipline, chart reviews and provider evaluations, including Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations, in collaboration with Medical Director
2. Actively contribute towards the creation of a positive work environment and culture.
3. Assist medical providers with clinical practice management, including patient flow and meeting standards of evidence-based care.
4. Ensure medical staff compliance with the MMC by-laws and rules and regulations.
5. Assist Medical Director in initiatives related to clinical quality, patient safety and office improvement.
6. Assist Medical Director with planning and facilitation of regularly scheduled periodic physician meetings.
7. Collaborate with Program Managers to identify strategic opportunities and resolve operational issues
8. Investigate and respond to patient complaints as needed with Site Administrator
9. Assist Medical Director with interviewing and selection of new providers
10. Assist Medical Director in providing orientation and mentoring for new providers
MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
1. Clinical performance improvement measures - ie QARR, HEDIS, MSHP Monthly Sites Report, Other MMG Smart Reports that include School Health Program services, for their own practices and for the medical providers being supervised.
2. MMG Indicator Measures (provider productivity, meaningful use report, unsigned document report, DELL billing log)

1. Doctor of Medicine (MD)

3. Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Pediatrics or Family Medicine

4. Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
