We're looking for an experienced Regional Sales Director (RSD) responsible for setting the strategic direction of their assigned region. The RSD leads and motivates the sales team to increase revenue and profitability by acquiring new business and expanding existing accounts. The RSD drives regional success by building the capabilities and leadership strengths of the district sales managers and sales representatives on their team.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops and implements strategic sales plan for region based on short- and long-term corporate goals.
  • Directs sales forecasting activities. Researches and analyzes business opportunities and sets regional sales goals accordingly. Cascades the goals to the regional sales team
  • Leads and motivates the region's district sales managers and sales representatives (with the assistance of the sales operations, sales force development, and sales education teams) to develop and control the regional sales program. Reviews sales plan progress with district sales managers on a regular basis.
  • Coaches the region's district sales managers and sales representatives, ensuring professional development through sales training to improve product knowledge, selling technique, marketing and pricing strategy, and business acumen.
  • Recruits district sales managers and sales representatives for the region in accordance with Lawson's Equal Employment Opportunity Policy. Assigns sales territory and sales goals to new sales representatives. Ensures successful onboarding and training of new sales representatives by the district sales manager.
  • Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules, and discount rates.
  • Directs channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals.
  • Prepares periodic sales reports to study sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client-based expansion. Analyzes sales statistics to formulate policy and strategy while assisting sales representatives to grow sales.
  • Prepares the regional budget and controls budgeted regional expenses accordingly.
  • Maintains and analyzes regional sales forecasts and expense performance to ensure expenditures of region conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Meets with key clients in coordination with the district sales managers and sales representatives. Delivers sales presentations to assist the sales representatives in negotiating and closing sales, while developing key-customer relationships.
  • Represents company at trade association meetings to promote the expansion of Lawson's business interests.
  • Acts as liaison between sales management, sales operations, and other sales-related areas at the corporate office. Assists other departments within organization to prepare manuals and technical publications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, plus 15 years of sales experience, with 7 to 10 years of field sales management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Business strategist with proven ability to lead profitable sales organizations.
  • Ability to develop and manage sales and profitability goals for region.
  • Strategic thinker and strong motivator, with the ability to communicate with different employees, from frontline to C-suite, in our customers' organizations.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with a broad "general manager" mindset.
