About

The Washington West African Center (WAWAC) is seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join our team as a Human Resource Assistant. This essential role supports the HR department in fostering a positive, inclusive, and well-coordinated workplace environment. As a Human Resource Assistant, you will work under the guidance of the HR Manager and Executive Director, contributing to the smooth operation of personnel processes and volunteer coordination.

This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about community development, values confidentiality, and thrives in collaborative settings. You will play a key role in supporting recruitment, onboarding, training, and documentation efforts that help WAWAC maintain a strong and engaged team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruitment efforts, including posting opportunities, screening applications, and scheduling interviews
  • Support onboarding processes by preparing orientation materials and coordinating training sessions
  • Maintain accurate personnel and volunteer records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with organizational policies
  • Help track volunteer and staff participation, attendance, and engagement metrics
  • Aid in organizing HR-related meetings, trainings, and events
  • Respond to inquiries from staff and volunteers regarding HR policies and procedures
  • Assist in updating internal HR documents and systems to reflect current practices
  • Collaborate with department leads to ensure smooth communication and coordination across teams
  • Support the HR Manager and Executive Director with additional administrative tasks as assigned
