Overview

In addition to providing highly skilled technical expertise and knowledge, the Cast House Supervisor is responsible for developing and implementing advanced information management systems to ensure that critical process, recovery, and quality information is delivered to the process operators in the Cast House.

Job Responsibilities

· Understands how to keep the people, process and equipment safe and functioning correctly each day to support a continuous improving environment for all team members;

· Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors;

· Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems;

· Coordinates production activities with maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment;

· Responsible for providing feedback to the workforce periodically on their individual performance and how well they comply with company policies and expectations;

· Keeps the Assistant Cast House Manager and the Cast House Manager informed of all problems affecting safety, quality or production;

· Assures that all prescribed records and documents are properly completed and maintained;

· Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems;

· Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality;

· Leads process improvement teams when required. This includes assisting with corrective action development and training. Assists in conducting system, product and process audits;

· Guides, directs and coaches employees to timely completion of work activities and measures that performance against predetermined process goals;

· Responsible for providing feedback to the workforce periodically on their individual performance and how well they comply with company policies and expectations;

· Performs other required tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in design, engineering, technical engineering, operations or a related field;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a Cast House;
  • Minimum of two years of escalating die cast experience;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a fast-paced changing business environment;
  • Familiar with manufacturing, safety and quality process concepts, practices, and procedures;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a collaborative environment;
  • Provide communication to workforce via written, visual, and electronic methods to build agreement and understanding;
  • Strong time management skills with attention to detail.
