Job description

Annual Salary: $52,000.00  

**THIS POSITION IS REQUIRED TO PASS THE MODERATE WORK CAPACITY TEST or THE PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST ANNUALLY** 

Examples of Duties:

Provide technical assistance to landowners in all areas of forest management. Write multiple resource-based forest management plans for landowners. Assist with timber sales on state lands. Provide technical assistance to landowners in afforestation and reforestation. Diagnose insect and disease infestations and make recommendations for control. Assess storm damage to forest lands. Develop prescribed burning plans and assist with implementation. Provide assistance with establishing Streamside Management Zones. Present forestry programs to school groups and local government bodies. Assist landowners with cost-share programs. 

Prepare reports, including measuring and computing acreage. Assist landowners in control burns. May operate heavy equipment. Assist with fire control as needed. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in forestry, forest resources, or closely related major, which includes core forestry coursework from a SAF accredited school; or completion of an associate degree in forestry, which includes forestry coursework from an SAF accredited school, and be a Georgia Registered Forester. Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and GIS. Excellent communication and customer service skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of southeastern forestry.

*This position will cover the following counties: Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Gordon, Murray, Walker, and Whitfield*

Bachelor's degree in forestry, forest resources, or a closely related field that includes core forestry coursework from a Society of American Foresters (SAF) from an accredited college or university; or an Associate's degree in forestry, which includes forestry coursework from an SAF accredited school and be a Georgia Registered Forester. Note: Completes agency-specific training and requirements.
