With the largest fleet of specialty trailers in the world, the company is uniquely positioned to meet the growing demand for low and zero-emission fuel distribution.Summary:The Junior Technical Services Engineer is an early-career engineering role designed for recently graduated engineers with initial exposure to oil & gas or industrial field operations. This position supports the Technical Services Engineering team by providing hands-on technical assistance to Operations and Sales, while developing core competencies in Pressure Reduction Systems (PRS), equipment reliability, commissioning, and field troubleshooting.The role reports to the Technical Services Engineering Lead and will be based in Calgary AB, with periodic travel to field locations across Canada and the United States.This position offers structured mentorship, on-the-job training, and long-term growth opportunities within Certarus’ engineering organization.Schedule:
  • This position holds normal business hours, with 30-40% travel expected
  • We support a hybrid work environment consisting of flexible remote and in-person collaboration at our corporate offices and field locations
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Act as a Safety Champion, promoting Certarus’ proactive safety culture in both office and field environments
  • Support communication and coordination between Engineering, Operations, and Sales teams
  • Provide technical assistance in the field, including site visits to support operations and customers
  • Assist with equipment commissioning for new-build and retrofit PRS systems under senior engineer guidance
  • Monitor and audit equipment performance and parameters using SCADA systems
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and assist with data analysis to identify reliability or performance issues
  • Assist in the deployment and execution of the PRS reliability program
  • Support the development and delivery of the Certarus Training Program, including documentation and field feedback
  • Work with Procurement and Operations to help identify and source critical parts as needed
  • Provide technical and applications support during customer meetings and field visits
  • Assist the Sales team with project scope definition, technical clarification, and cost inputs as required
  • Collaborate with Operations to promote effective equipment usage, job setup, and standard practices
Requirements:
  • Recently graduated with a degree or technical diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related discipline)
  • 1–3 years of relevant field experience in oil & gas, energy, or industrial operations (co-op, internship, or post-graduate experience acceptable)
Exposure to or foundational knowledge of:
  • Industrial equipment and field operations
  • Electrical systems, controls, piping, or compressed gas systems (preferred but not required)
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (ASME, CEC, NEC) is considered an asset
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, field-oriented environments
  • Self-motivated, safety-focused, and eager to learn within a growing technical organization
