POSITION: Visalia Electrical Supply Branch Manager

LOCATION: Visalia, CA

SALARY: $90,000.00 to $125,000.00/ annually, DOE

 COMPANY OVERVIEW

Established in 1913, Electric Motor Shop is a premier electrical contractor, motor repair shop and electrical supply wholesale distributor. Our stateoftheart repair facility offers all levels of motor and pump repair, service and rewinding, with 24hour service availability. Our supply division has one of the largest stocking warehouses in Central California. We also have a fully licensed professional contracting division capable of providing service for small to large industrial projects, including custom panel design and installation, PLC programming, AC drives, and transformer installations.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Branch Manager is responsible for leading the branch team to serve customers effectively and profitably; achieving sales and income targets; and overseeing daytoday branch operations, inventory, and the safeguarding of company assets. The manager also ensures operational excellence in the wholesale electrical distribution context (order fulfillment, vendor relations, branch logistics).

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage all branch staff: interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding employees, and disciplining when necessary.
  • Oversee branch functions including purchasing, quotations, contract review, warehouse handling, deliveries and other key distribution operations.
  • Ensure the branch is staffed by qualified and trained personnel and that all positions are effectively supported.
  • Direct and coordinate sales efforts within the branch.
  • Assist with account development and support key customers as necessary.
  • Conduct training needs assessments by function and implement training plans to bridge skill gaps.
  • Stay current on the markets we serve, industry trends, new products, pricing, customers, vendors, and competition.
  • Provide superior customer service and uphold our company goals and objectives.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and customers, resolving problems and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Review and analyze sales and financial reports to manage budgets effectively and support profitability goals.
  • Maintain full compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Maintain competitiveness while achieving required margin and profit targets.
  • Coordinate logistics and delivery operations to ensure orders are fulfilled on time and accurately.
  • Manage inventory: ensure the right stock levels, control obsolete/damaged items, monitor turns and optimal warehouse organization.
  • Monitor vendor and manufacturer relationships: pricing agreements, rebate programs, leadtimes, and vendor performance.
  • Uphold safety, housekeeping, and regulatory compliance in both the office and warehouse settings.
  • Demonstrate the ability to negotiate, instruct, supervise, persuade and speak with others. Work cooperatively with peer teams. Accept feedback from supervisors and respond appropriately.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a fouryear college or university, or three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 5 years' experience in wholesale distribution, preferably electrical or industrial products.
    • Experience with inventory metrics (turns, fillrate, obsolescence), and logistics management.
    • Familiarity with ERP systems and datadriven decision making.
    • Experience creating and executing sales strategies specifically for distribution
    • Knowledge of wholesale electrical distribution industry: vendors, manufacturers, product lines, catalogues, supply chain logistics.

  • Licenses & Other Requirements
    • Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
    • Willingness to participate in drug, alcohol, and background screenings.
    • Occasional travel for conferences, seminars, customer visits, vendor meetings, and other branch needs.
    • This position requires the ability to safely bend, stoop, reach, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds. Tasks may involve repetitive motion and exposure to warehouses and outdoor environments.
