Description
Northeast EnviroCare (a subsidiary of Modern Home Inspections) inspects septic systems across Connecticut, mostly for homeowners, home buyers, and real estate agents during the sale of a home. We're looking for someone to join our small crew, learn the work from our most experienced inspector, and grow into running inspections on their own. No septic background needed. If you're handy, strong, dependable, and good with people, we'll teach you the rest.
This is hands-on work, outdoors and in every kind of weather. You'll locate and uncover septic components, which means digging and lifting heavy concrete lids, run the inspection through to a clear result, and write up what you find. Most days you'll drive to a few homes around the region and meet the homeowner, buyer, or their agent on site. A good part of the job is explaining what you found in plain language and leaving people confident that they got a thorough inspection. Because you'll eventually run jobs on your own, you have to be able to handle the physical side without a second set of hands.
What we're looking for
  • Real strength and stamina. You'll be lifting heavy lids and digging by hand, on your own, in heat and cold.
  • A mechanical or trades background of some kind: plumbing, HVAC, excavation, auto, construction, equipment operation, anything where you've learned to work with tools. You should be able to turn a wrench without thinking twice.
  • Enough sense to learn how these systems work and make a sound call on what you're looking at.
  • A way with people. You're the face of the company at someone's home, often during a stressful sale, and we want every client to be glad they called us.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Someone who shows up. Clients schedule their closings around us, so being on time and reliable isn't optional.
  • Basic technology skills to write reports within industry software and sewer camera tools
  • Ability to pass a background check

Full-time and year-round, busiest from spring through fall and quieter in winter. Pay is based on your experience and what you bring, with room to earn more as you start taking jobs on your own.
