Job description

Septic Installer - 2+ Years Experience | $25-$35/hr
American Septic - a division of American Rooter & Drain
Caldwell, ID • Full-time • Year-round work
We're hiring an experienced septic installer who can run a job start to finish.
American Septic is growing fast. We're putting septic systems in the ground across the Treasure Valley and into Eastern Oregon, and we've got more work than crew. If you can set a tank, hold a grade, keep a trench safe, and pass inspection the first time - we want to talk to you.
This isn't a company where you're a number on a dispatch board. You'll run your own jobs, work directly with homeowners and inspectors, and be trusted to make the call on site.
What you'll do
  • Install complete septic systems - tanks, drainfields, pump stations, D-boxes, and sewer laterals
  • Run the excavator, skid steer, and trencher on residential sites
  • Set grade off plans and permits, and get it right the first time
  • Repair and replace failed systems: saturated fields, collapsed lines, bad tanks and baffles
  • Coordinate with the health district and be ready when the inspector shows up
  • Restore the site so the customer is happy with how you left it
  • Direct a helper and keep the job moving

What you need
  • 2+ years installing septic systems (hands-on, not just watching)
  • Solid excavator and skid steer operation in tight residential spaces
  • Ability to read site plans and set grade on your own
  • Valid driver's license and a clean enough record to drive our trucks
  • Willingness to work outside year-round and start early
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen

Nice to have (we'll help you get the rest)
  • Current Idaho health district installer license or Oregon DEQ license
  • Class A or B CDL
  • Pressure-distribution or mound system experience
  • Pump, float, and control panel experience
  • OSHA 10/30 or trench competent-person training

What we offer
  • $25-$35 per hour depending on experience and licensing, plus overtime
  • Year-round work - we don't lay off in the winter
  • Medical, dental, vision
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Company truck, tools, uniforms, and PPE - you don't buy your own equipment
  • We pay for your licensing, certifications, and CDL upgrade
  • Real advancement - we're growing the septic division and building crew leads out of it

Why American Rooter & Drain
We're a locally owned Idaho company running plumbing, drain, septic, electrical, and HVAC under one roof. That means steady work, real backup when a job gets complicated, and a path to grow without changing employers. We invest in equipment and we invest in people.
