JOB SUMMARY
Performs volunteer duties related to hosting the Open Space, Trail and park system for Pinal County residents and visitors. Duties will take place a Peralta Regional Park, a 498-acre park located at the base of the Superstition Mountains in Gold Canyon, Arizona. Park includes 31 primitive campsites, 18 picnic ramadas, and over 9 miles of trails in a backcountry setting. Park Host site has a large pull-in ramada for an RV, barbeque, and a picnic bench. Park Host site water via a tank/pump, solar system with battery backup and septic hookups.
TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Interacts with park visitors and campers and answers questions regarding camping regulations, fee schedules and/or park rules.
  • Interacts with park visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Performs light maintenance, landscaping and picking up trash/litter.
  • Verifies overnight visitors are adhering to the park self-pay rules.
  • Provides weekly activity reports to the Pinal County Open Space and Trails Department.
  • Reports park violations to the Pinal County Open Space and Trails Department
  • Prefer a commitment to volunteering from October - April.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK
  • Able to deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Any combination of education, training and experience that would provide the necessary skills for this volunteer assignment.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • A valid Arizona State Driver's License may be required.
  • Knowledge of camping regulations, fee schedules and park rules.
  • The ability to work independently to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to maintain accurate activity reports and park violation records.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
While this position is a volunteer, unpaid position, the successful candidate will receive an RV camp space at no charge, including solar electricity, water, and sewer hookups. The park is remote and provides a backcountry experience. Site electricity is generated via solar panels with limited battery backup storage.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Independent body mobility to stand, walk, bend, and sit for prolonged periods of time and/or drive a vehicle. Manual dexterity to reach, and grasp; manual dexterity to hand write or use computer keyboard; vision sufficient to see/read; hear and speak to communicate with customers in person and over the phone. Position is located outside and is exposed to summer and winter weather conditions.
