ICU Registered Nurse – Travel Assignment in Chesapeake, Virginia

Travel ICU RN opportunity in Chesapeake, VA, just minutes from Virginia Beach and Norfolk. Join a fast-paced adult critical care team and provide high-acuity nursing care in a collaborative hospital setting. If you’re an experienced ICU Registered Nurse who enjoys travel nursing, this Virginia critical care assignment could be a great fit.

Job Details
  • Location: Chesapeake, Virginia 23320
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
  • Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
  • Schedule Options: 3x12s or 4x12s
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Required to Stepdown and may float to ED/Med-Surg to care for ICU patients being held
  • Holidays: Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Setting: Adult ICU / Critical Care
  • Start Date: 08/24/2026
Job Requirements
  • Active Virginia RN license or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission
  • 3 years of critical care experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience may be considered
  • Strong neuro critical care experience preferred, including post-neurosurgical and stroke care
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR required
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • Experience with ventilators, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, and conscious sedation
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
  • Must pass EKG testing with a score of 80% or higher
  • Must have a clean license and background history
  • Must be able to meet fit testing requirements
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible
Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to adult ICU patients with complex medical needs
  • Monitor and manage critically ill patients with neuro, respiratory, renal, trauma, septic, and cardiac conditions
  • Administer and titrate IV drips, cardiac drips, and vasoactive medications
  • Interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias and respond appropriately to changing patient conditions
  • Manage ventilated patients and support advanced respiratory care needs
  • Deliver conscious sedation and assist with emergency response interventions
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient recovery and continuity of care
  • Float as needed to Stepdown or other designated units to support ICU-level patients
