Job Description:

The Data Governance Analyst supports ProPetro's enterprise data governance program by helping ensure critical data is cataloged, classified, documented, trusted, and fit for governed analytics and AI use. This role helps maintain data governance tools and standards, coordinates with data stewards and business stakeholders, improves lineage and data quality visibility, and supports governance processes that strengthen control, transparency, and responsible data use across the organization. The position plays an important role in preparing enterprise data for secure, scalable use in reporting, automation, and AI-enabled solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve the enterprise data catalog, including metadata, ownership, classification, and business context for priority data assets

  • Support enterprise data classification efforts to improve governance, protection, and AI readiness

  • Document and maintain end-to-end data lineage for key datasets, reports, and governed data products

  • Help maintain the business glossary and standard definitions for critical business terms, metrics, and data elements

  • Coordinate with data stewards, business stakeholders, and technical teams to gather, validate, and update governance documentation

  • Assist in defining, tracking, and reporting data quality metrics, issues, and scorecards for priority data domains

  • Support periodic data access reviews and ownership validation processes for governed data assets

  • Maintain governance standards, process documentation, and supporting evidence needed for audit readiness, internal controls, and responsible AI deployment

  • Support onboarding of new datasets and governed data assets into the enterprise catalog and governance processes

  • Help identify gaps in metadata, ownership, lineage, classification, or quality and coordinate remediation with appropriate stakeholders

  • Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always using proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered

  • 1-3 years of experience in data governance, data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, IT, or a related data-focused role

  • Familiarity with data governance concepts such as metadata, data quality, lineage, business glossary, classification, stewardship, or access controls

  • Experience with Microsoft 365 required; familiarity with Power BI, Excel, SQL, or data catalog/governance tools preferred

  • Familiarity with tools such as Secoda, Microsoft Purview, or similar governance and catalog platforms preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to organize, validate, and document information clearly and consistently

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams

  • Ability to gather ambiguous information from multiple stakeholders and turn it into clear, usable governance documentation

  • Willingness to learn governance processes, data platforms, and enterprise data protection practices

  • Understanding of how governance supports analytics, reporting, compliance, and AI readiness is preferred
