The Assistant Construction Manager will train under a Senior Construction Manager Mentor to gradually take on more responsibility in order to advance to a Construction Manager. As a trainee, the Assistant Construction Manager will learn responsibility for planning, organizing and directing the construction of homes while meeting the companyโ€™s objectives of performance, cost, quality, and safety. The Assistant Construction Manager will learn responsibility for coordination of all customer meetings and on-site walks from home start through completion, and to be the customerโ€™s primary point of contact from the pre-construction meeting. Delivering on the company Mission to the customer during the construction process is the primary focus.

Responsibilities

  • On the job training will be provided for reading and understanding house plans, plot plans, and to gain a knowledge of construction related terms and codes
  • Coordinates all construction activities to achieve 100% completion on schedule, within budget and in conformance to plans, specifications and standards
  • Identify and solve problems with the Senior Construction Manager Mentor before they affect critical path for on time delivery
  • Commands respect of customers and vendors through consistent delivery of commitments and expectations
  • Exhibits tact, consideration, and patience in difficult situations
  • Interacts and communicates clearly with coworkers, clients and vendors in a courteous, friendly manner
  • Approaches sudden, unexpected challenges effectively with confidence
  • Effectively and accurately communicates relevant information to the customer on a weekly basis
  • Learns and enforces company safety policy with trade partners and company employees
  • Maintains an organized job site including the construction office
  • Communicates plan errors / inconsistencies to Senior Construction Manager Mentor as soon as they are discovered
  • Keeps the Senior Construction Manager Mentor and appropriate parties informed about production status and issues that may impact delivery of the Mission. Be prepared for weekly backlog meetings and neighborhood meetings with the sales team
  • Effectively manages communication between Sales, Closing Coordinators, and Purchasing as needed

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business, Engineering or Construction Management preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of construction related work is preferred
  • Valid Driverโ€™s License.


Additional Requirements

  • This is an on-site position based in the Polk County, FL area and will require relocation if you are not currently located in the area.
  • This is a non-exempt role, and any overtime worked requires prior approval from management. Failure to obtain management approval for overtime may result in corrective action in accordance with company policy.
  • Being authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship is a precondition of employment.
