Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The HD Chase Driver is responsible for safely transporting CDL drivers to their destination, in order to pick up or deliver vehicles to and from the auction site.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Safely operate a passenger van to transport auction drivers between the auction facility and various pickup/drop-off sites.
  • Maintain accurate trip logs and communicate schedules with the Transportation Leadership.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements particular to motor vehicles, including road safety regulations and follow city, state and federal driving laws with no exceptions.
  • Assist in planning efficient routes and adjusting to traffic or weather conditions as needed.
  • Conduct basic vehicle checks before and after each trip (fuel level, lights, tires, etc.).
  • Keep the van clean, fueled, and in good working condition; report any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Provide courteous and professional service to all team members and auction partners.
  • Assist CDL drivers preparing trucks for transport
  • Clean and maintain chase vehicles, both interior and exterior
  • Support other transportation or lot duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Prior commercial truck driving experience preferred
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Team-oriented with good communication skills.
  • Must be able to work outdoors and on foot for extended periods.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous commercial truck driving experience plus but not required
  • General mechanical knowledge plus but not required
  • Jump starting vehicles
  • Operate manual transmission vehicles

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must be willing to learn, and use online payroll systems for time keeping
  • Must be able to do overnight trips as needed
  • Must be able to lift commercial batteries to replace if needed
  • Must be able to assist CDL drivers prepping trucks for transport
  • Must be able to drive trucks on sale day through the sales arena

CERTIFICATIONS

  • Valid Drivers License with clean driving record
