Job description

The Coffee Shop Assistant Manager supports the daily operations of the coffee shop, ensuring excellent customer service, high-quality beverages and food, and smooth team performance. This role assists the Coffee Shop Manager by leading the barista team during shifts, maintaining operational standards, and helping create a welcoming and efficient environment for both customers and staff. The Coffee Shop Assistant Manager will also be cross-trained to support convenience store operations and assist with store functions as needed.

  • Oversees daily shift operations, including opening and closing procedures as assigned.
  • Supervises baristas during assigned shifts, providing guidance, support, and coaching.
  • Assists with training new staff and reinforcing company policies and procedures.
  • Monitors inventory during shifts and reports low stock or equipment issues to management.
  • Ensures beverages and food items meet company quality standards.
  • Addresses and resolves customer concerns promptly and professionally.

  • Reports for work in a timely manner when scheduled.

Additional Job Duties:

  • Assists with other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises a small team during assigned shifts.  

Education and/or Experience (include certs or licenses needed):

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Previous experience in a coffee shop or food service preferred.
  • Experience leading a small team or training staff preferred.
  • Experience in retail or convenience store operations preferred but not required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to supervise and motivate a small team of baristas during shifts.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math and computer skills for POS operations and shift-level reporting in both coffee shop and convenience store settings.
  • Professional, positive attitude and ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Willing and able to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts.
  • Must have a phone and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to communicate in English – IF APPLICABLE.
