Overview:
The Engineer is a crucial member of the property operations team, responsible for the general maintenance and repair of the entire hotel facility, with a primary focus on maximizing guest satisfaction through quick and effective resolution of maintenance issues. This role requires strong general maintenance skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Room Maintenance:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs within guest rooms, including but not limited to: plumbing (faucets, drains, toilets), electrical (lighting, switches, outlets), HVAC systems (filter changes, basic troubleshooting), and carpentry (doors, windows, furniture).
  • Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests, prioritizing those that directly impact the guest experience, and follow up to ensure satisfaction.
Public Area & Facility Repair:
  • Conduct repairs and preventative maintenance in all public areas, including the lobby, fitness center, dining areas, meeting spaces, and back-of-house areas.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks such as painting, drywall repair, tile work, and caulking.
  • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of building exteriors, grounds, and parking areas as needed.
  • Conduct regular checks of the Front Office area, lobby, and staff presentation to ensure cleanliness, organization, and adherence to brand standards.
Technical & System Support:
  • Assist the Chief Engineer with monitoring and maintaining major hotel equipment, including boilers, chillers, and kitchen equipment.
  • Conduct fire alarm and life safety system checks according to schedule.
  • Log and track all repair work, preventative maintenance tasks, and materials used.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and hotel policies regarding safety, fire, and health regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including storage and workshop areas.
  • Identify and report major maintenance needs or safety hazards immediately to the Chief Engineer.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical training or certification in a skilled trade (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical) is a plus.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in general maintenance, preferably within a hotel, hospitality, or commercial property setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in multiple trade areas (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting).

Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays, based on the operational needs of a 24/7 hotel environment.
