Currently, the Hampton Inn Bloomington is looking for an Assistant Chief Engineer who will play a key role in supporting the operation, maintenance, repair, and safety of the hotel's facilities, equipment, and building systems. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, assisting the Chief Engineer in ensuring the hotel remains safe, functional, and well-maintained for guests and team members.

Requirements
What You'll Do:
  • Assist in supervising, training, and supporting maintenance technicians and team members.
  • Provide guidance and direction to maintenance staff during assigned shifts.
  • Assist with task assignments and daily workflow coordination to ensure efficient operations.
  • Support onboarding and training of new maintenance associates.
  • Serve as a departmental leader in the absence of the Chief Engineer.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
  • Assist in maintaining all hotel systems and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, kitchen, laundry, and life safety systems.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and corrective repairs throughout the hotel.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and team members.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and equipment to identify maintenance concerns.
  • Troubleshoot and repair building systems and equipment as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating repairs, renovations, and special projects.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, brand standards, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels and ordering maintenance supplies as directed.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors when necessary.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations including power outages, equipment failures, water leaks, and other facility-related issues.
  • Support energy conservation initiatives and cost-control efforts.
  • Collaborate with all hotel departments to ensure an exceptional guest experience.

What We're Looking For:
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building maintenance systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose maintenance issues effectively.
  • Knowledge of hotel safety standards and maintenance best practices.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, EPA, or related certifications preferred.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and participate in an on-call rotation as needed.
