Job description

Chief Engineer

We're looking for a hands-on Chief Engineer to lead the maintenance and daily operations of our commercial office building. This role includes supervising a team, handling repairs, running preventive maintenance, and keeping tenants happy. You'll manage HVAC systems, life/safety equipment, small capital projects, and help control energy use and maintenance budgets.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and train the building's engineering team
  • Oversee HVAC, electrical, and plumbing repairs
  • Manage preventive maintenance and safety systems
  • Help plan and track budgets and capital projects
  • Make sure tenant requests are handled fast and well

Qualifications:

  • 5-7+ years in building maintenance (especially commercial buildings)
  • 2-3+ years in a leadership role
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Universal refrigerant certification
  • Experience with HVAC, mechanical systems, and electrical codes
  • Able to read blueprints and use basic tools and meters
  • Basic budgeting and computer skills (Microsoft Office, maintenance software)
  • Great customer service and communication skills
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in various building areas
