Job Duties
Serve Virginia's veterans and their family members by ensuring they receive the benefits, support, quality care and recognition they have earned through service and sacrifice. Directly responsible to the Cemeteries Superintendent and will assist the Office Administration Supervisor in the operation and overall daily functions of the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Works directly with funeral directors and family members, securing and supporting documentation for verification of eligibility using all appropriate channels, data entry and scheduling/attending cemetery services for the deceased. Performs additional duties assigned by the Cemetery Superintendent and the Administration Supervisor in all matters concerning the veteran's cemetery.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of office procedures that include telephone services, gravesite locator, filing, BOSS data entry, mail distribution, responding to routine inquires and familiar with cemetery grounds equipment/procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with the general public both orally and in writing. Ability to make sound decisions in the absence of the Cemeteries Director and Cemetery Superintendent. Must be detailed and multitask orientated.
As needed, must be able to work outside coordinating funeral services in all weather conditions. Funeral services take place during rain, snow, ice, extreme heat and cold.

Any combination of education and job experience that leads to the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above. Knowledge of cemetery grounds equipment and procedures preferred. Knowledge of NCA (National Cemetery Association) rules and regulations regarding eligibility of veterans and dependents preferred
