Kenyon College invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time, 10-month reporting position with benefits. Reporting to the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Performance and working under the license of the Kenyon College Team Physician, the Assistant is responsible for assisting the Head Athletic Trainer with providing prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries to 23 Division III intercollegiate male and female sports. It is also expected that the Assistant Athletic Trainer embraces the department mission of fostering learning and developing community with a focus on the values of citizenship, competition, resiliency, sportsmanship and teamwork within Kenyon's unique campus culture. Successful candidates will be able to show a demonstratedย commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in their support for students from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, religious and national backgrounds.

Essential Functions:

  • The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for assisting the Head Athletic Trainer with providing prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries to 23 Division III intercollegiate male and female sports.Assist with Public Open Hours for all Kenyon affiliated members, including but not limited to all club teams, intramurals, general student body, faculty, and staff as identified.
  • Maintain positive communications and relationships with Kenyon's athletics and academics staff. Competency in computer skills (e.g. Google suite, word processing, Healthy Roster, SWAY, PyraMed, etc.).
  • Travel with any sports teams as directed.
  • Maintain appropriate communications with student athletes and parents/guardians.
  • Work independently and maintain a schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain BOC Certification.
  • Maintain Ohio Licensure.
  • Maintain all Continuing Education Units required by our organization (s).

Risk Management:

  • Enforce and implement all weather policies during extreme weather conditions.
    • Know and understand the inclement weather strategies for halting contests and resuming contests due to unsafe weather (i.e.; lightening,ย tornado, extreme heat, extreme cold, unsafe field conditions).
  • Know, update, and understand the written Emergency Action Plans with regards to training room operation and expectations of athletic trainers at the site of competition.
  • Assist with Insurance Coordination with filling out appropriate claim forms with students.
  • Assist Head Athletic Trainer with appropriate Physician coverage at athleticย events.

Other Expectations:

  • Serve as a member of the Athletics, Fitness & Recreation team, responsible for providing leadership, goals, and program implementation at a fully residential campus housing undergraduate students.
  • Develop and maintain mutually supportive and collaborative working relationships with student affairs colleagues, faculty, and other campus partners to accomplish shared objectives and tasks.
  • Lead and assist with designated departmental, divisional, and/or College committees, initiatives and processes.
  • Develop meaningful connections with students, staff and faculty by beingย available and visible on campus.
  • Assist with special projects and duties, as needed.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to and compliance with the College's and Department of Athletics policies and procedures as well as the North Coast Athletic Conference and NCAA constitutions, bylaws, legislation and regulations.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the Department of Athletics' student-athleteย handbook, and the Student Affairs and College's mission statements.

Working Conditions:

  • Some heavy lifting / moving equipment is required.
  • Early morning, day, late evenings, weekends, holidays, college breaks and summers are required with the potential for additional travel for athletic contests and convention/caucus attendance.
  • The ability to obtain College driver certification is desirable.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification in First aid and CPR.
  • NATA Certification.
  • Eligibility for Ohio State Licensure.
