The Asphalt Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating asphalt paving crews on construction projects. This role ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications, schedules, and quality standards. The Asphalt Foreman serves as the main point of contact in the field and provides leadership, direction, and support to crew members.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead asphalt paving crew members on job sites

  • Plan daily work activities and assign tasks to crew members

  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations

  • Monitor asphalt paving operations, including grading, rolling, and compaction

  • Read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications

  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, truck drivers, subcontractors, and equipment operators

  • Inspect work progress and ensure quality standards are met

  • Identify and resolve job site issues in a timely manner

  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and care of tools, trucks, and heavy equipment

  • Track labor, materials, and production quantities as needed

  • Complete daily reports, job logs, and other required documentation

  • Train and mentor crew members on proper paving techniques and safety procedures

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and productive job site

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • Minimum 3-5 years of asphalt paving experience required

  • Previous supervisory or foreman experience preferred

  • Strong knowledge of asphalt paving methods, materials, and equipment

  • Ability to read construction plans and grade stakes

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of OSHA and general construction safety practices

  • Valid driver's license required

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends as needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly

  • Ability to work around heavy equipment, hot asphalt, dust, and noise

  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods

Work Environment:

  • Outdoor construction job sites

  • Exposure to heat, cold, noise, vibration, dust, and moving equipment

  • Fast-paced environment with changing priorities and deadlines

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with paving machines, rollers, skid steers, and milling equipment

  • Ability to manage crew productivity and job site efficiency

  • Basic computer or tablet skills for daily reporting

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
