Job Title: Commercial Asphalt Paving Foreman

Job Description

This role seeks an experienced Commercial Asphalt Paving Foreman to lead field crews and oversee daily paving operations on commercial asphalt and roadway projects. The position is a hands-on leadership role for a working foreman who runs crews in the field, ensures high-quality workmanship, keeps projects on schedule, and maintains a safe jobsite in compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise paving, grading, and patch crews on commercial asphalt and roadway projects.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in full compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
  • Plan daily job activities and assign tasks to crew members to meet production goals and project timelines.
  • Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, grades, and specifications to execute work accurately.
  • Operate paving, rolling, grading, and related heavy equipment as needed to support field operations.
  • Monitor material usage, production rates, and workmanship quality throughout each project.
  • Coordinate daily activities and project needs with dispatch, project managers, and customers.
  • Complete accurate daily reports, time sheets, and production logs for each job.
  • Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of company tools, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Train, coach, and evaluate crew members to build skills, improve performance, and support safety.
  • Support problem-solving in the field, addressing issues with grades, asphalt placement, and site conditions.
  • Help maintain a professional jobsite, including housekeeping, traffic control, and customer interactions.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in asphalt paving, roadway, or commercial site work.
  • Prior experience serving as a foreman or lead operator on paving or road construction projects preferred.
  • Strong understanding of paving operations, grades, asphalt placement, and roadway construction practices.
  • Proven ability to lead crews, solve problems on site, and consistently meet production goals.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills for directing crews and interacting with project stakeholders.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job layouts, project plans, and specifications.
  • Experience in commercial construction and construction management environments.
  • Background in road construction, asphalt paving, and general paving operations.
  • Ability to supervise construction activities and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Comfort using phone or Microsoft Teams for interviews and job-related communication.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with concrete work and commercial construction projects.
  • Ability to work effectively in both English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction supervision practices and documentation requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail in monitoring production rates, material usage, and quality control.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with crew members, dispatch, project managers, and customers.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
