Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Asphalt Superintendent to lead and manage asphalt paving projects from inception to completion. In this role, you will oversee daily operations on construction sites, coordinate crews, ensure safety compliance, and deliver projects on time and within budget. Your expertise in construction management, project scheduling, and team supervision will drive the success of our asphalt projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale infrastructure developments and commercial construction endeavors.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise asphalt paving crews, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to project schedules.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop and maintain detailed construction schedules using construction management software.
  • Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to ensure accurate execution of paving operations.
  • Manage project budgets, track costs, and implement costcontrol measures to stay within financial targets.
  • Enforce OSHA safety regulations and federal construction safety standards, conducting regular safety meetings and site inspections.
  • Oversee quality control processes, including material testing with tools such as ohmmeters, to ensure durability and compliance with specifications.
  • Supervise crew management activities, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and ensuring crew members follow safety protocols.
  • Review contracts and manage subcontractor relationships to ensure scope adherence and timely delivery of services.
  • Interpret technical drawings for proper installation procedures; coordinate construction schedule updates as needed for project progression.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of project activities, safety records, change orders, and progress reports using Bluebeam software.
  • Skills
  • Extensive experience in heavy civil or commercial construction projects with a focus on asphalt paving.
  • Proficiency in construction management software such as Primavera P6, Primavera P3, Bluebeam, ProCore, HeavyBid or similar tools.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and federal construction safety standards; ability to enforce safety protocols effectively.
  • Skilled in blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and reviewing construction plans for accuracy.
  • Proven ability in project scheduling, budget management, and managing multiple teams simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills for managerial oversight, client interactions, and team leadership.
  • Handson experience supervising crews on active construction sites; adept at managing teams in a fastpaced environment.
  • Familiarity with construction regulations related to asphalt paving operations; knowledge of pipeline work is a plus.
  • Ability to utilize measurement tools such as ohmmeters for quality assurance testing; strong understanding of construction safety management practices.
