What are AS400 Computer Operators?

AS400 Computer Operators are IT professionals responsible for managing and maintaining IBM AS400 (now IBM iSeries or IBM Power Systems) computer systems. Their duties typically include monitoring system performance, running batch jobs, performing backups, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of the AS400 environment. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are vital soft skills for managing system alerts and collaborating with IT teams. These skills ensure smooth system operations, minimize downtime, and help maintain business continuity for critical IT infrastructure.
