Job Description:
Job Purpose
Create wood strands by processing logs through debarker and strander
In this position you will have the opportunity to:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operate equipment controls to regulate the speed of logs, cut logs, and transfer flakes
  • Coordinate processes with fellow operators
  • Change knives as necessary
  • Identify operational issues as well as control panel issues
  • Blow down the strander
  • Remove log jams and bark from belts
  • Monitor the flow of flakes entering the green bins
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned/necessary

What do I need to be successful?
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of multiple complex equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance.
  • Time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate multiple pieces of equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules and regulations.

Education:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

Experience:
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in equipment operation.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
