Position Summary

Operates strander, debarkers and associated equipment to provide a continual supply of strands for consistent dryer production. 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operates, lubricates, cleans, and inspects strander, debarker and other associated in feed and out feed conveyors for proper operation. 
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. 
  • Maintains product quality by monitoring/controlling flake output quality as required by product specifications. 
  • Maintains production and quality by continuously monitoring gauges, mechanical signals, machine operations, etc., to detect malfunctions; independently taking appropriate corrective action and/or notifying appropriate personnel, as required by standard operating procedures. 
  • Changes knives/clamps as required by strokes, dullness, or flake quality degradation. 
  • Contributes to operational analyses and plant-level problem solving efforts by preparing written documents such as quality and production logs, charts, reports preventative maintenance reports. 
  • Contributes to efficiency of operations by communicating with co-workers, supervisors and other members of management to inform them of upset conditions. 
  • Maintains proper green bin levels. 
  • Completes operational requirements in a timely manner so that ongoing work duties as well as varying shift objectives are accomplished in a timely manner.   
  • Controls processes and operation of machinery using hand controls, buttons, levers, switches. 
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.      
  • Maintains operations by reading, interpreting and applying complex written instructions in the form of Standard Operating Procedures and other written instructions. 
  • Performs general physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, moving whole body and multilimbed coordination 
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED 

  • 1 to 3 Years Manufacturing Experience. 

  • Experience with basic hand tools preferred
