Job description

Primary Purpose:

Direct and manage the culinary arts program for MISD CTE Center. Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
The Advanced Culinary Arts teacher will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the CTE Center bistro ensuring high standards of culinary production, customer service, and overall management. This role includes supervising student participation in bistro activities, guiding them through hands-on learning experiences, and maintaining a professional kitchen environment.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Associate degree from an accredited institution in culinary arts
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university preferred
ServSafe Instructor Certifications preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
Demonstrated competency in culinary arts instruction



Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of culinary arts
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to supervise students' daily tasks
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills




Experience:
3 years industry experience
Experience leading in an instructional culinary arts setting preferred
