Joining the military with cystic fibrosis is generally not permitted, as the condition can affect lung function and overall health, which are critical for military service. The Department of Defense typically disqualifies applicants with chronic or progressive health issues that could impair duty performance. Medical evaluations and waivers are rarely granted for cystic fibrosis due to the severity of the condition.

To thrive as an Army soldier, you need physical fitness, discipline, and a high school diploma or equivalent, along with successful completion of basic training.
