Excel Program at Episcopal Academy - Lifeguards & Swim Instructors

Who You Are

The Excel Program at Episcopal Academy seeks part-time and full-time seasonal (June 8th - August 7th) camp lifeguards and swim instructors. Reporting to the Aquatics Director, lifeguards and swim instructors support campers throughout the day, lead swim instruction, and ensure a safe and engaging camp experience.

What You Will Do

Successful candidates for this position will:

  • Provide vigilant pool supervision and perform rescues as needed, including during weekly safety drills
  • Teach group swim lessons to children of all ages and skill levels
  • Implement lesson plans and activities tailored to individual swimmer needs using positive reinforcement
  • Supervise camper groups with attention to behavior, safety, and personal development
  • Be responsible for group supervision of students with attention to behavior and group management, health, safety, security, and personal and skill development
  • Communicate health and safety concerns promptly to the Aquatics Director
  • Support daily camp programming, including outdoor and indoor activities
  • Collaborate with fellow summer staff members and complete required skills tracking paperwork
  • Serve as a positive, professional role model and interact professionally with students, their families, peers, the leadership team and the larger campus/school community
  • Be flexible, reliable, and team-oriented

About You

The ideal candidate for the Excel Summer Camps & Programs Lifeguard/Swim Instructor at The Episcopal Academy will possess the following:

  • Red Cross Lifeguard Certification required prior to start of camp
  • Experience working with children
  • Ability to push, pull, lift and carry a minimum of 35 pounds.
  • Complete all background checks required by the Department of Education.
