Job Summary
Tutoring Arabic language
Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
  • Native or near native fluency in Arabic, familiar with Arabic culture, basic computer skills.
  • Reliability, timeliness and attention to detail.
  • Increasing knowledge of Arabic 1010 and 1020, 2010,2020 and other Arabic language related including teaching methods and the course textbook, materials, and assignments.
  • Increasing competence in tutoring, focusing on textbook integration, identifying student level of competence, and tailoring instruction to the student level, needs, and instructor expectations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.

Minimum qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current student of SLCC.
  • Language teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Ability to communicate both in English and the language you will be tutoring.
  • Availability to attend the SLCC classes in the target language in conjunction with the approval of the course instructor.
  • Attending classes will increase your familiarity with course materials and teaching methods.
  • The instructor will expect you to work with students during class time, which is also good preparation for tutoring.
