Description
The Middlebury College Summer Arabic School is pleased to announce a vacancy for a temporary Instructor of Arabic. The position is available during the summer 2022 session, located on the Bennington College campus in Bennington Vermont. Our unique 8-week program combines a cultural immersion environment with rigorous daily classroom instruction. This is an opportunity to join a community of learners by actively engaging in teaching, dining, residing and leading cocurricular activities with students while reading, writing and speaking exclusively in Arabic.
We are looking for experienced faculty who have extensive teaching experience in Arabic as a second or foreign language, including teaching aspects of Arab culture and society. This may include poetry, literature, art, music, etc.
Dates to be on campus = June 20 - August 21. Lodging and meals will be provided.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should possess at least a MA or PhD (ABD with strong credentials may also be considered), strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated success working as a member of an instructional team. The School invites candidates who are creative, dynamic, collegial, and are from diverse backgrounds.
Application Instructions
Candidates should submit:
  1. A letter of application in which they briefly summarize their teaching philosophy and how they will contribute to the Arabic school;
  2. A current curriculum vitae (c.v.);
  3. Three letters of recommendation;
  4. Recent statistical information from student evaluations;
  5. An original copy of their last degree transcript;
  6. An official translation of the original copy of the candidate's last degree transcript if the document is issued in a language other than English.

Application deadline is January 15, 2022, but the position will remain open until filled. This position is for summer of 2022.
