Job description

We are hiring for this position out of our Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary offices. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.   

Regular business hours are Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm, however this role may require flexibility around start/end times. This role will require you to support a 24/7 environment on call or as needed.

This a 13-month Fixed Term opportunity.  

About the Role:

In this role, you will provide essential technical support for critical banking systems, ensuring optimal performance, minimal downtime, and seamless user experiences. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, act as a liaison between business and technical stakeholders, and contribute to system enhancements, documentation, and deployment activities—all while supporting 24/7 operations for our core banking platforms.

About the day-to-day:

  • Provide hands-on technical support for business-critical banking systems, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests. 
  • Perform system analysis, identify areas for improvement, and implement enhancements to streamline processes and increase efficiency. 
  • Monitor application performance and proactively address issues to minimize downtime and optimize performance. 
  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and third-party technical teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment of objectives. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. 
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including user guides, process flows, and system configuration details. 
  • Participate in technical testing and deployment activities, including coordination of user acceptance testing (UAT) and production releases. 
  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and provide support to end-users to maximize their understanding and utilization of implemented solutions. 
  • Provide 24/7 support (pager) to our critical lines of business to ensure Core Banking meets their SLA of application up time. 

About the qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field. 
  • Over 2 years of work experience in an IT environment with proven experience in application and production support, ideally at a financial institution. 
  • Strong technical proficiency with enterprise banking applications and systems. 
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and IT service management (ITSM) best practices. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and recommend effective solutions. 
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively. 
  • Preferred Certification in ITIL, Agile, or related disciplines. 
  • Experience with SQL, scripting languages, or business intelligence tools is preferred. 
  • Experience with AWS CLI, supporting applications running in a SaaS and PaaS model (both AWS and Azure) is an asset 
  • Working experience with ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence – change and incident management is strongly recommended. 
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and security standards relevant to the Canadian Financial industry.

Compensation:  

The expected salary for this role is approximately $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 annually. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
