Now Hiring: HCIT Application Integration Developer

(Remote)

Position Summary:
The Application Integration Developer supports the design, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of healthcare application software, including web-based and mobile solutions that enable connected healthcare. This role requires knowledge of healthcare systems, integration standards, and strong problem-solving skills. The position involves handling complex tasks and using experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot system issues and identify opportunities to improve applications
  • Develop and refine HL7 interfaces
  • Use Bridgelink/Mirth integration engine to translate, transform, and archive HL7 messages
  • Create and maintain code mappings for translating data from external systems
  • Transform messaging protocols (e.g., CSV to HL7, HL7 to FHIR/JSON/XML)
  • Ensure end-to-end message transport and processing; troubleshoot integration issues
  • Prepare for projects by understanding scope, deliverables, and client needs
  • Partner with Project Management to verify sales orders prior to project start
  • Design and develop innovative software solutions for healthcare challenges
  • Maintain high-quality deliverables and documentation
  • Prepare project status reports by analyzing data and trends
  • Support updates and modifications to project plans
  • Manage multiple priorities through effective task management
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and clients
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Programming, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of interface engine experience
  • Strong knowledge of HL7 v2.x, HL7 FHIR, OpenAPI, and DICOM standards
  • Experience with integration engines such as Mirth/Bridgelink (preferred), Cloverleaf, or Rhapsody
  • 2+ years of experience supporting deployments on Linux-based systems (RHEL preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of JavaScript and SQL/PostgreSQL
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and networking
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and challenge the status quo
  • Flexible, collaborative, and solution-oriented mindset

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the healthcare or healthcare technology industry
  • Strong working knowledge of Linux operating systems
  • Programming and database experience
