Job description

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Accounting Associate (AppFolio) in Netherlands.

This is a detail-oriented remote accounting role within a growing real estate finance environment, focused on supporting accurate and efficient property management accounting operations. You will play a key part in maintaining financial integrity across multiple property portfolios by ensuring transactions are correctly recorded, reconciled, and reported. The role requires hands-on experience with AppFolio and strong familiarity with real estate accounting workflows. You will contribute directly to month-end close processes, financial reporting, and day-to-day bookkeeping accuracy. Working closely with a collaborative accounting team, you will help identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and improve financial clarity across systems. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in structured, process-driven environments and values precision and accountability.

Accountabilities:
  • Manage and support accounting workflows within AppFolio, ensuring accurate processing of property management financial transactions.
  • Prepare, assist with, and review monthly financial statements, including participation in month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Record, classify, and reconcile transactions across general ledger accounts, including bank, escrow, trust, tenant, and owner accounts.
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bookkeeping operations with accuracy and consistency.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial data, escalating issues when necessary to ensure timely resolution.
  • Work with supporting tools such as QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Keeper, Teamwork, and other internal platforms.
  • Follow established accounting procedures, communication standards, and productivity tracking requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
  • Hands-on experience using AppFolio for real estate accounting is mandatory.
  • Strong background in accrual accounting and full-cycle accounting processes beyond basic AP/AR tasks.
  • Proven experience in account reconciliation, including bank, escrow, trust, tenant, owner, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Strong Excel skills for financial analysis, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Experience preparing financial statements and supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to independently investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Strong written communication skills and confidence in asking clarifying questions when needed.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy, accountability, and minimal supervision.
  • Experience working with U.S.-based teams or U.S. accounting standards is preferred.

Benefits:

  • 100% remote work with full flexibility from home.
  • Weekly salary payments with structured salary progression.
  • Full-time stable employment (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM EST schedule).
  • Opportunity to work in a growing real estate accounting environment with meaningful financial impact.
  • Collaborative team culture focused on accuracy, accountability, and clear communication.
  • Exposure to multiple accounting systems and property management financial workflows.
  • Equal opportunity workplace committed to diversity and inclusion.
