The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Reno Distribution Center supporting Marmot products. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Distribution, this role provides leadership for receiving, shipping, inventory control, returns processing, and overall warehouse operations. The Operations Manager works closely with supervisors and associates to ensure service, safety, quality, and productivity objectives are achieved while maintaining a positive and engaged work environment.

The Operations Manager supports continuous improvement efforts through the application of PEAK principles and standard work practices. This position serves as the primary backup to the Senior Manager, Distribution and assumes operational leadership responsibilities during periods when the Senior Manager is unavailable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop two Distribution Supervisors to ensure effective execution of daily operations, employee engagement, performance management, workforce development, and achievement of operational goals.
  • Lead daily distribution center operations including receiving, shipping, inventory control, returns, and quality processes.
  • Coordinate daily workload priorities and communicate expectations to supervisors and associates.
  • Ensure customer orders are processed safely, accurately, and on time.
  • Monitor labor utilization, workflow, and operational performance to achieve service and cost objectives.
  • Partner with the Senior Manager, Distribution to execute operational priorities and site objectives.
  • Serve as primary backup for the Senior Manager during absences and provide leadership continuity for the facility.
  • Support employee engagement, communication, training, and development activities.
  • Partner with Human Resources on employee relations, staffing, performance management, and talent development.
  • Support safety initiatives and ensure compliance with all company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy standards.
  • Review and maintain operating procedures and work instructions as needed.
  • Participate in annual operating and capital planning processes.

Continuous Improvement & PEAK

  • Support implementation and sustainment of PEAK systems and continuous improvement initiatives within the distribution center.
  • Partner with the Senior Manager, Distribution to identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, service, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in root cause analysis, problem-solving activities, and improvement projects.
  • Promote standard work, operational discipline, and employee involvement in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Monitor operational metrics and support site improvement priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive distribution, warehouse, or supply chain leadership experience.
  • Experience leading teams in a distribution center environment.
  • Knowledge of inventory control, shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and warehouse management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in consumer products, retail, outdoor, or apparel distribution environments.
  • Experience supporting Lean, PEAK, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with SAP EWM or similar warehouse management systems.
