ANIBIC's Vocational Support Team is seeking a dedicated Employment Specialist / Job Coach to help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities succeed in the workplace and achieve greater independence. What You'll Do:

In this rewarding role, you will travel to worksites throughout Queens, NY, providing coaching, guidance, and advocacy to individuals as they build valuable job skills, maintain meaningful employment, and pursue career growth opportunities.


As an Employment Specialist / Job Coach, you will:

  • Support individuals in adapting to workplace expectations, culture, and professional relationships.
  • Provide on-site coaching, encouragement, and skill development to promote job success.
  • Evaluate work performance and provide constructive feedback to help individuals reach their full potential.
  • Teach, model, and reinforce appropriate workplace behaviors and professional communication skills.
  • Collaborate with employers, support teams, families, and community partners to ensure successful employment outcomes.
  • Serve as a liaison between the individual, their employer, support team, and ANIBIC while maintaining positive professional relationships.
  • Complete documentation and progress notes in accordance with OPWDD and agency requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for career advancement and help individuals develop skills for increased responsibility and independence.

Qualifications Required:

  • Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, or higher.
  • Minimum of one year of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or comparable experience in an OPWDD-certified setting.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle.
  • Ability to travel independently to various worksites throughout Queens and surrounding areas.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency using computers and electronic documentation systems.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Preferred:

  • Experience with supported employment or vocational services.
  • Leadership, supervisory, or mentoring experience.
  • Knowledge of OPWDD regulations and person-centered practices.
