UNC Health Cary Orthopaedics currently has an opening for a full or part-time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to work with an Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients experiencing neck and back pain in the office setting.
  • If interested, occasional opportunities to assist the physician in the operating room, however the majority of this position will be clinic based.
  • Participate in rounding on post-operative patients in the hospital as needed.
  • Provide backup coverage for office calls; no primary ER coverage expectations.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program;
  • State licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner;
  • Experience in pain management, orthopedics, or spine experience is a plus;
  • Strong knowledge of orthopedic spine anatomy, pathophysiology, and treatment modalities;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with team members.
About the Practice:
UNC Cary Orthopaedics is comprised of fellowship-trained, Board-Certified physicians who provide state-of-the-art orthopedic surgery and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries for patients throughout the Triangle. The practice is comprised of 15 physicians and 8 Advanced Practice Providers. Serving patients throughout the Triangle, UNC Cary Orthopaedics has one goal - to restore good health and mobility to those with musculoskeletal pain. UNC Cary Orthopaedics has three locations in the Triangle - Cary, Morrisville-RTP and Holly Springs. We also provide comprehensive spine care at our Cary Spine Center and at all locations.

Education Requirements:
  • Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina.
  • Board certification if required by the Department. DEA.
Professional Experience Requirements:
  • No prior experience required.

  • Demonstrated clinical competency.
  • Effective leadership skills. Strong interpersonal skills.
