The Associate Vice Provost for Data & Strategic Analytics (AVPODSA) provides senior academic leadership for the Office of Data & Strategic Analytics, integrating institutional research, data management, and strategic analytics to advance LSU's academic mission and strategic priorities. The AVPODSA works with the Senior Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs & Provost to set the vision, strategy, and governance framework for data and analytics; ensures the integrity, security, and strategic use of institutional data; and partners with academic and administrative leaders to embed data-informed decision making at every level of the institution. The AVPODSA is responsible for developing and maintaining LSU Flagship campus-level data resources-including metrics that track and inform the flagship academic enterprise-to support strategic decision making for the Senior Vice Chancellors of the LSU Flagship campus. These efforts include the deployment of agentic AI to infuse data-based decision-making and assessment into strategic planning across the university.

Job Responsibilities

Academic Data & Analytics Strategy (20%) - Provide strategic leadership for LSU's use of data & analytics; define and refine a data & analytics strategy that supports enrollment management, academic program quality, student success, faculty planning, and research priorities; establish clear priorities, success metrics, and road maps for institutional research, data management, and analytics initiatives supporting colleges, schools, and academic support units; ensure alignment of this work with the University's strategic plan, academic master plan, and accreditation expectations.

Leadership of the Office of Data & Strategic Analytics (20%) - Lead, supervise, and evaluate senior leaders and staff within the Office (e.g., Assistant Vice President of Strategic Analytics, Director of Institutional Research, Director of Data Management); organize the portfolio of work across institutional research, data management, and analytics to ensure clear ownership, efficient workflows, and coordinated delivery of services; foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, professional development, and accountability within the Office.

Data Governance, Compliance & Data Quality (15%) - Lead LSU's engagement in university data governance; develop and oversee standards, and procedures governing academic and research data access, stewardship, quality, and lifecycle management; ensure compliance with federal and state reporting requirements and external mandates (e.g., Louisiana Board of Regents, U.S. Department of Education/IPEDS, NCAA, accrediting bodies, national surveys); oversee data quality strategies to ensure accuracy, consistency, completeness, and reliability across academic systems, reports, and dashboards.

Enterprise Data Architecture, Systems & Analytics Platforms (15%) - In partnership with Information Technology Services, provide leadership for data architecture, data warehouses/data lakes, reporting environments, and analytics platforms (e.g., Workday, Snowflake, enterprise BI tools) that serve academic decisionmaking; guide the design and deployment of scalable data models, semantic layers, and integrations that enable consistent, efficient reporting and advanced analytics; champion investments in modern analytics capabilities (e.g., dashboards, predictive and prescriptive models, AI/ML applications) that support academic and operational decisionmaking.

Institutional Research, Reporting & Strategic Analytics (15%) - Oversee institutional research studies, benchmarking, and analyses that evaluate academic performance and inform policy, program assessment, and strategic planning; ensure the timely production of institutional dashboards, fact books, academic program and student success reports, and strategic initiative scorecards for leadership and external stakeholders; direct the use of advanced analytical methods to investigate complex research questions, model scenarios, and generate actionable recommendations for the Provost, deans, and other senior academic leaders.

Campus Partnerships, Communication & Culture of Evidence (10%) - Build strong, trustbased partnerships with deans, vice provosts, department chairs, and faculty leaders to align analytics support with academic and institutional goals; communicate analytical findings to executive and campus stakeholders in clear, insightful ways that inform academic policy, resource allocation, and program decisions; advocate for and model a culture of datainformed decisionmaking across LSU, including education, training, and engagement on the responsible use of data.

Administration, Resource Management & Other Duties (5%) - Develop and manage the Office's budget, staffing plans, contracts, and technology investments, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with institutional academic priorities; represent Academic Affairs and the Office of Data & Strategic Analytics on university and systemlevel committees, task forces, and external partnerships related to data & analytics; perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs & Provost (or designee) to advance LSU's academic and strategic objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree and a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in data analytics, institutional research, and data management.

Specific Experience: Demonstrated success in leading integrated portfolios that include institutional research, data management, and analytics.Experience designing and implementing data strategies, governance frameworks, and major analytics initiatives that support academic decisionmaking.Experience supervising professional staff and leading crossfunctional projects.
