Role Overview
The Associate Actuary at ProAg plays a key role in supporting underwriting and actuarial functions by delivering data-driven insights that inform pricing, hedging decisions, and overall business performance. In this role, you will analyze claims and premium data, develop projections, and contribute to actuarial models that guide decision-making across underwriting teams and leadership.
Working closely with cross-functional partners, you will support initiatives such as reinsurance analysis, pricing, and financial reporting, while also assisting with strategic efforts like new product offerings and competitor comparisons. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytical professional who can manage multiple priorities and translate complex data into meaningful insights that help drive sound business decisions.
In this Exciting Opportunity, You Will:
  • Conduct rate adequacy analysis and develop insurance product pricing using actuarial and predictive modeling methodologies, driving the business to achieve profitability objectives
  • Using actuarial and predictive modeling techniques, construct policyholder profitability models for reinsurance decisioning in multi-peril crop insurance and livestock contracts
  • Provide quantitative support in evaluating derivative market instruments and assist in the execution of trading strategies
  • Utilize strong interpersonal and communication skills to understand and support actuarial needs of the insurance product implementation process

What You Bring
  • A Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience
  • Minimum 5 Casualty Actuarial Society exams passed. Attainment of the Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) certification a plus
  • Ability to apply statistical and predictive modeling and analytics methodologies to advanced analytical problems, interpret the model results, turn data into actionable insights, and effectively communicate model results
  • Proficiency in programming languages R, SQL, or Python
  • Fantastic written and verbal communication skills with ability to effectively present recommendations and analysis to business partners
  • Good organizational and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Pay Transparency
The pay range for this position is $137,200 - $155,000, which includes geographic adjustments, where applicable. The pay range is the range THMCC, in good faith, believes is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting. The hired applicant will be offered pay within the entire range based on the candidate's geographic location, qualifications, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
