Assistant Professor - Modern East Asian History

Position Type: Faculty

Pay Grade: Academic

Academic Job Description: The Department of History in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Louisiana State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Modern East Asian History, with a preference for historians of the nineteenth or twentieth centuries. Those working on modern China are encouraged to apply, but we welcome candidates who specialize in any part of the region. Applicants should be prepared to teach survey courses in World History as well as upper-level courses in their area of expertise.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a teaching load of two courses per semester.
  • Mentor graduate students pursuing the Global History minor.
  • Engage in scholarly research and publication.
  • Contribute to service within the department and university.
Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in History or equivalent or related field and evidence of excellence in teaching and scholarship.

Appointment Details

The appointment begins August 2027.

An offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check.
