What does an analyst do?

An Analyst is a professional who collects, processes, and interprets data to help organizations make informed decisions. Their responsibilities often include researching trends, preparing reports, and providing insights that guide business strategies. Analysts work in various fields such as finance, marketing, operations, or data analysis, and use specialized tools and software to analyze information. They play a key role in identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting the decision-making process within a company.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Analyst, you need strong analytical thinking, quantitative skills, and a relevant degree such as in finance, business, or data science. Familiarity with data analysis tools (like Excel, SQL, or Python), business intelligence platforms, and sometimes certifications such as CFA or CAP are typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are vital soft skills for presenting insights and collaborating with stakeholders. These skills are crucial for transforming complex data into actionable strategies that drive informed business decisions.

How do analysts typically collaborate with other departments within an organization?

Analysts often work cross-functionally, collaborating closely with teams such as finance, marketing, operations, and IT to collect data, understand business needs, and provide actionable insights. This collaboration usually involves regular meetings, data sharing, and joint project work to ensure that analyses align with organizational goals. Effective communication and teamwork are key, as Analysts must translate complex data findings into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders. Building strong relationships with other departments helps Analysts stay informed about business priorities and deliver more impactful results.

What analyst makes the most money?

Senior-level analysts in specialized fields such as financial, data, or management analysis tend to earn the highest salaries, often exceeding $100,000 annually. Factors like industry, experience, certifications, and location influence compensation levels significantly.

What degree does an analyst need?

An analyst typically needs at least a bachelor's degree in fields such as business, finance, economics, statistics, or related areas. Some roles may require or prefer a master's degree or professional certifications like CFA or CPA, especially for advanced or specialized positions.

What is an entry level analyst?

An entry-level analyst is a professional starting their career in data analysis, business analysis, or similar fields. They typically have limited work experience, often require a bachelor's degree, and use tools like Excel or basic data software to support decision-making and reporting tasks.

Job description

Job Title: Business Analyst

Mode: Full Time - Remote

Role Summary

We are looking for a Business Analyst who excels at business problem-solving, analytical storytelling, and insight-driven decision support. This role focuses on translating complex business problems into clear analytical narratives, dashboards, and AI-assisted insights.

You will work closely with the Senior Business Data Analyst / Product Owner to shape requirements, validate insights, and ensure business clarity across dashboards, applications, and AI-enabled solutions.

This is an individual contributor role with strong ownership and stakeholder exposure.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Problem Solving

  • Decompose ambiguous business problems into structured analytical questions
  • Identify what insights actually drive decisions (and what doesn’t)
  • Act as a business representative in analytics and AI-driven initiatives

Analytics & Dashboard Storytelling

  • Design analytical dashboards with clear narratives and decision flows
  • Own dashboard storyboarding: headlines, insight sequencing, and callouts
  • Review analytical outputs to ensure business relevance and clarity

Wireframing & Prototyping

  • Create low- to mid-fidelity wireframes for dashboards and applications
  • Translate requirements into visual flows for early stakeholder validation
  • Ensure usability and business logic consistency

AI, LLM & Agentic AI (Conceptual)

  • Interpret AI/LLM-generated insights from a business perspective
  • Identify potential hallucinations, inconsistencies, or risky narratives
  • Help design AI-assisted decision workflows with human-in-the-loop controls
  • Translate AI outputs into business-safe, explainable insights

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work independently with business stakeholders
  • Challenge unclear or low-value requirements
  • Support the Product Owner in reviews, refinements, and prioritization

Required Skills & Experience

Experience

  • 2 to 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst / Analytics Analyst / Product Analyst

Core Skills

  • Strong business acumen and analytical thinking
  • Proven experience in dashboard storytelling and insight communication
  • Experience with wireframing and prototyping (tool-agnostic)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to explain complex insights in simple business language

AI Awareness (Non-Technical)

  • Conceptual understanding of LLMs and AI-generated insights
  • Awareness of AI limitations, risks, and validation needs
  • Experience working with AI-assisted analytics is a plus

What We Value More Than Tools

  • Problem framing over solution jumping
  • Business judgment over technical depth
  • Clarity of thinking over fancy visuals
  • Responsible AI usage over automation hype

Ideal Candidate Traits

  • Structured thinker with high curiosity
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity
  • Willing to challenge assumptions respectfully
  • Business-first mindset with strong ownership
