Job description

As part of Intelligent Talent Acquisition (ITA) Data team, you'll have the opportunity to reinvent the hiring process and deliver unprecedented scale, sophistication, and accuracy for Amazon Talent Acquisition operations. ITA is an industry-leading people science and technology organization made up of scientists, engineers, analysts, product professionals and more, all with the shared goal of connecting the right people to the right jobs in a way that is fair and precise. Last year we delivered over 6 million online candidate assessments and helped Amazon deliver billions of packages around the world by making it possible to hire hundreds of thousands of workers in the right quantity, at the right location, and at exactly the right time. You'll work on state-of-the-art research, advanced software tools, new AI systems, and machine learning algorithms, leveraging Amazon's in-house tech stack to bring innovative solutions to life. The Principal Data Engineer will lead high scope technical projects within ITA and in partnership with multiple technical stakeholders across Amazon Talent Acquisition and People Experience & Technology organizations. Within ITA, the Principal Data Engineer will lead technical strategy to ensure high quality data provision end to end across eight major data services, technical design and hands on development of high impact and complex products and mentoring data engineers in best practice across the organization. Outside ITA, the Principal Data Engineer will partner with technical organizations (both upstream and downstream) to develop scalable interoperability solutions for Amazon Talent Acquisition.
Key job responsibilities
Lead the development of the technical strategy for the ITA organization with a specific focus on how to bring both transactional and analytical data together.
Advise on overall data strategy for PxT Consumer.
Lead designing new services and complex features within existing services.
Lead capability reviews of ITA data infrastructure identifying improvements in existing services and/or identifying critical gaps in the data ecosystem.
Design and implement the interfaces with partner organizations including, but not limited to:
Hands on development on organization level critical projects.
Develop, coach and mentor engineers across ITA to up-skill the organization.
Lead technical design review meetings for data services across People Experience Technology Consumer.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree in a technical field or equivalent
Design, implementation, or consulting experience with distributed applications or related field.
Data engineering experience or related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with Data/Research Scientists who require models to be put into production for a variety of models (e.g. predictions, optimization and natural language processing.
Experience with Human Resources Privacy regulations and strategies to manage personally identifiable data world-wide whilst using state of the art solutions to enforce compliance with regulations.
Experience with Transaction and Real Time Data Services

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
