Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Senior Business Services Technician on our Asian Risk Services Team team.
Our US Asian Risk Solutions provides fully serviced standard admitted products to our Japanese and South Korean clients with operations in the US and Mexico. Beyond our commitment to disciplined and responsive underwriting, we provide each client with strong claims support and assistance, highly customized loss control services, and superior policy processing.

Our business, your impact, our opportunity:
What you'll be doing:
Expense & Accounting Operations
  • Manage Accounts Payable, bank reconciliations, and monthly reporting for SJI.
  • Oversee SJI Salesforce expense submissions, validate entries, and support ~40 users.
  • Conduct cash management, including monthly fund requests.
  • Process financial transactions such as rent entries, salary settlements, checks, ACH, and wires.

Payroll & Tax Support
  • Prepare biweekly payroll reports and compile income data for tax calculations.
  • Coordinate intercompany salary and tax settlements with SIHR.
  • Support JReps and trainees with tax filing, refunds, and equalization.
  • Organize annual tax filing webinar and respond to IRS/state notices.

PSA Accounting & Budgeting
  • Prepare monthly PSA journal entries in SAP and perform quarterly/year end reconciliations.
  • Develop PSA budgets, annual plans, and year end settlement data (including markups).
  • Issue quarterly PSA invoices and track incoming payments.
  • Draft annual budget plans and track spending in Anaplan.
  • Support variance analysis, forecasting, and intercompany expense allocations.
  • Issue invoices and reconcile receivables.
  • Maintain internal manuals, online subscriptions, and housing rent/deposit ledgers.
  • Use Salesforce, Mizuho eBanking, Quicken, SAP, and Anaplan.

What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial modelling).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working with Japanese companies or familiarity with Japanese business culture.
  • Experience with Anaplan or similar budgeting/forecasting tools.
  • Japanese language ability required.

Salary Range: $86,000 - $121,000. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
