This is a highly collaborative, on-site role that requires five days per week in the office. Responsibilities: - Support day-to-day export control compliance work across TikTok's products, technologies, and infrastructure, with a primary focus on technical product counseling, ECCN classification, and licensing-related analysis; maintain clear and defensible compliance records including classification rationales, technical inputs, regulatory analysis, and supporting documentation to strengthen internal consistency and enforcement readiness. - Conduct end-to-end classification assessments for hardware, software, technology, and related items, with particular depth in advanced semiconductors, advanced computing items, AI-related technologies, and other sensitive or emerging technologies; support license determinations, license exception analysis, transaction reviews, and related documentation for high-risk, sensitive, or business-critical activities. - Partner closely with product, engineering, infrastructure, procurement, and business teams to advise on export control implications for new products, features, partnerships, deployments, and cross-border technology transfers; assess export control issues relating to FDPR, intangible technology transfers, cloud/IaaS operations, API or software access, and other digital or infrastructure-enabled technology flows. - Monitor relevant BIS and regulatory developments, including changes to technical parameters and control scope, and translate those changes into updated internal guidance, review criteria, and operational processes; work closely with the broader export control and trade compliance team to support scalable workflows, cross-functional coordination, and continuous improvement of compliance operations.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - Multiple years of relevant experience in export control, classification, licensing, technical compliance, or related international trade compliance work. - Demonstrated experience conducting classification and licensing reviews in a multinational business, ideally in the technology, semiconductor, advanced computing, cloud, data center, or infrastructure sectors. - Strong working knowledge of U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the EAR, BIS regulatory concepts, licensing principles, and restricted party screening fundamentals. - Familiarity with issues relating to Foreign Direct Product rules, de miminis calculations, advanced computing controls, AI model-related export control issues, intangible technology transfers, and cross-border infrastructure deployments. - Strong technical fluency and ability to understand product architecture, hardware and software concepts, technical specifications, compute-related infrastructure, and technology use cases relevant to export control analysis. - Experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, operations, procurement, supply chain, or related stakeholders on compliance reviews and technical issue-spotting. - Ability to analyze complex facts, apply regulatory requirements in a practical way, and communicate clear, actionable guidance to non-legal stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: - Industry experience in advanced semiconductors, AI technologies, cloud infrastructure, or software and technology transfers. - Experience building or improving internal workflows, review processes, tracking mechanisms, or documentation systems for export control compliance. - Experience in a high-growth technology company or similarly complex global environment. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and strong attention to detail. - High integrity, professionalism, and a solutions-oriented mindset in a fast-moving environment.
