The American Express National Bank (AENB) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Compliance Team maintains the Enterprise AI Compliance Program, which includes maintenance of the AI Standard, oversight for AI Compliance Risk engagement in risk assessments, maintenance of key Compliance Risk factors, and monitoring of key risks for the Program. By embedding risk discipline into strategy and operations, the AI Compliance Program enables responsible growth, innovation, and long-term value.

The Analyst, AENB and AI Compliance team is a role focused on managing the Compliance risks associated with the development and deployment of AI within American Express. The incumbent will be responsible for executing on the overall Compliance risk management and governance framework for Traditional and non-Traditional AI adoption at the Company. We are seeking an analyst to be a part of this exciting journey.

  • Proven experience implementing enterprise AI governance and AI-enabled risk management programs. 
  • Intellectual curiosity and a passion for emerging AI technologies and responsible innovation. 
  • Experience preparing Board and senior management materials. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders in a complex environment. 
  • Advanced degree in Technology, Engineering, Risk Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline preferred. 
  • Deep understanding of AI technologies, Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, and associated risks.

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the AI Compliance standard
  • Support Key Stakeholder engagement requirements per the AI Risk Management Policy
  • Identify heightened and emerging compliance risks associated with Traditional and non-Traditional AI and oversee implementation of controls aligned with American Express' Risk and Control Framework 
  • Execute AI risk monitoring and oversight activities to continuously evaluate AI Compliance risks and control effectiveness. 
  • Support the collaboration of efforts across Technology, Innovation, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Data, and business teams to assess and report the Enterprise AI Compliance risk profile. 
  • Develop executive management reporting, dashboards, and key AI Compliance risk metrics using Power BI and other reporting and visualization tools. 
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools and technologies to enhance AI Compliance risk assessments, governance activities, reporting, and operational efficiency. 
  • Support the design and delivery of AI Compliance risk awareness and training programs to strengthen enterprise AI risk capability.
