As a Device Software Development Engineer on the Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) team, you will design and develop embedded software for Amazon Leo's satellite and ground systems. You'll work on fault-tolerant, real-time platforms, collaborating closely with hardware, systems, and product teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance solutions.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the next generation of space-based communication systems with minimal legacy constraints. Your work will directly support critical government initiatives, enabling secure and high-performance communication systems for U.S

and allied missions.
This role can be based in Northridge, CA, Arlington, VA, or Redmond, WA, with U.S. relocation benefits. Onsite work is required 5 days a week.
This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S

Citizen in order to comply with U.S. government-imposed requirements related to the nature of the work and/or where it will be performed.
Key job responsibilities
Design, develop, and optimize embedded software for Amazon Leo's satellite and ground terminal systems, focusing on fault-tolerant, real-time platforms.
Leverage modern application frameworks for Embedded Linux and RTOS platforms to develop scalable, modular, and high-performance software.
Implement and integrate software for data processing, device control, and networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP).
Debug and resolve complex hardware-software integration issues using tools like logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless hardware-software interaction and system reliability.
Mentor junior engineers, conduct design reviews, and uphold high software quality standards.
A day in the life
As part of our software engineering team, you will design and implement embedded software used in the Amazon Leo products. You will work in a collaborative environment with teams inside and outside of Amazon

You will craft your software from requirements, designs, code, test, to product deployment.

Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) is a multidisciplinary team developing targeted and scalable solutions for custom satellite and ground applications. ALG Device Software focuses on embedded software solutions for custom products supporting U.S. and allied government customers
