Job description

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities beyond the reach of existing networks. Join Amazon Leo's Legal team and help navigate the complex legal landscape of satellite technology and regulatory licensing challenges that haven't been solved before in Latin America. Some travel, domestic and international, will be required. No space travel is required at this time.
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key job responsibilities
- Identify, research, and analyze complex legal issues related to satellite technology and regulatory licensing matters, providing strategic counsel to business and technical teams
- Collaborate with Amazon Leo's technical, regulatory, and business teams to assess legal implications of new initiatives and advise on risk mitigation strategies
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to understand business objectives and provide proactive legal guidance
- Support senior leadership and cross-functional teams in evaluating business-critical decisions and implementing legal solutions
- Advise on matters involving telecommunications law, spectrum licensing and international regulatory matters
A day in the life
As an Associate Corporate Counsel supporting Amazon Leo, you'll engage with novel legal questions that span satellite technology, regulatory licensing matters, and international operations across Latin America. Your day might include analyzing emerging regulatory frameworks for low Earth orbit networks, collaborating with our technical teams to understand system architecture and identify legal implications, or advising business stakeholders on strategic decisions involving spectrum licensing or international telecommunications agreements. You'll work on matters with significant visibility and impact, sometimes independently and often in partnership with colleagues across legal, regulatory, business, and technical functions. Your work will directly influence how we navigate the complex landscape of bringing internet connectivity to communities around the world.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- 3+ years of legal experience
- Some fluency in Spanish or Portuguese
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese highly desired
- Experience advising senior executives or organizational leadership on legal and strategic matters
- Experience building and sustaining collaborative relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams
- Background in technology law, telecommunications law, regulatory matters, or international business matters
- Experience working in fast-paced, innovative environments with evolving legal landscapes
- Familiarity with U.S. and/or international regulations, ITU frameworks, or international spectrum matters

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
