Job description

Extrusion Maintenance Technician

Job Summary

The Extrusion Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment used in aluminum extrusion operations. This role ensures maximum equipment uptime, supports production efficiency, and maintains a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

· Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on extrusion presses, pullers, saws, quench systems, ovens, and handling equipment.

· Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.

· Maintain extrusion press components.

· Inspect equipment regularly to identify wear, damage, or safety concerns.

· Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimize production downtime.

· Perform alignment, calibration, and adjustments of machinery.

· Maintain maintenance logs, work orders, and documentation.

· Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment. Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/tagout (LOTO).

· Collaborate with production teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.

Required Skills & Qualifications

· High School diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred, 2-year mechanical degree desired.

· Maintenance experience preferred, mechanical knowledge required.

· Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

· Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

· Ability to lift 50 lbs or greater.

Preferred Experience

· Experience in aluminum extrusion or metals manufacturing.

· Familiarity with extrusion press operations and tooling.

· Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)

Work Environment

· Industrial manufacturing setting with exposure to heat, noise, and heavy machinery.

· Requires standing, walking, climbing, and lifting (up to 50lbs).

· May require working weekends and overtime as needed.

NOTE FROM THE MAINTENANCE MANAGER: You will be required to have your own hand tools. This position may be required to work in other areas of the plant and to help with facility maintenance as needed. Probationary period will be the first 90 days in which you will be expected to maintain great attendance and be punctual, have no safety violations, ask questions when unsure, learn as much as possible, and most importantly be honest!
