About the Job
This position is based at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL and is performed onsite in support of the U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) J6 mission. The Electromagnetic Spectrum Management (EMS) Technician provides technical expertise in the planning, coordination, analysis, and management of the electromagnetic spectrum to ensure mission success across the USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility. This role supports spectrum authorization, interference resolution, spectrum supportability assessments, and operational planning while collaborating closely with government personnel and mission partners.

Responsibilities

Electromagnetic Spectrum Management

  • Research, develop, validate, utilize, analyze, and assess Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) tools and capabilities supporting the USCENTCOM Electromagnetic Operational Environment (EMOE).
  • Develop and process Radio Frequency Authorizations (RFAs) to support operational requirements and spectrum allocation.
  • Evaluate and analyze radio frequency (RF) usage to ensure compliance with applicable policies and operational requirements.
  • Perform spectrum supportability assessments for new and existing spectrum-dependent systems.

Spectrum Analysis & Interference Resolution

  • Analyze Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) incidents and recommend corrective actions to resolve operational conflicts.
  • Review Spectrum XXI (SXXI) data to identify constraints, conflicts, and spectrum availability during assessment activities.
  • Assess spectrum-dependent systems to determine operational compatibility within the electromagnetic environment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of spectrum supportability assessments for official correspondence and regulatory compliance.

Database & Systems Management

  • Enter finalized spectrum supportability assessments into appropriate Department of Defense systems for official submission and recordkeeping.
  • Utilize Joint Spectrum Database Repository resources to support spectrum management activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Department of Defense spectrum management processes and procedures.

Mission Coordination

  • Coordinate with government personnel and mission partners to support electromagnetic spectrum operations.
  • Provide technical recommendations to support operational planning and mission execution.
  • Collaborate with the Joint Frequency Management Office (JFMO) and other stakeholders to resolve spectrum-related issues.
  • Support high-tempo operational environments while maintaining mission readiness and spectrum compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience, if applicable).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) operations within the Department of Defense.
  • Successful completion of a Department of Defense Spectrum Management Course.
  • Experience using Spectrum XXI (SXXI) processes and tools.
  • Experience utilizing the Joint Spectrum Database Repository.
  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective customer and stakeholder relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting joint electromagnetic spectrum operations in a dynamic, high operational tempo environment.
  • Experience supporting USCENTCOM or familiarity with its mission and operational environment.
  • Experience using Host Nation Spectrum Worldwide Online (HNSWDO).
  • Experience using Joint Spectrum Interference Resolution Online (JSIRO).
  • Familiarity with Fusion Analysis & Development (FADE).
  • Experience coordinating with the Joint Frequency Management Office (JFMO).
  • Knowledge of Department of Defense spectrum management policies, procedures, and operational planning processes.
