Job Title: Lead Aftercare Associate
Location: Phillips Brooks School, Menlo Park, CA
Program: K-5 Aftercare Program (Children Ages 5-11)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 12:30-5:30 PM
Compensation: $25-$35/hr, based on experience and qualifications
Position Overview:
Phillips Brooks School is seeking a proactive and nurturing Lead Aftercare Associate to join our K-5 aftercare team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with children and is considering a future in classroom teaching or already has teaching experience. The ideal candidate brings a growth mindset, takes initiative in their work, and thrives in a collaborative, child-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities:
โ€ข Engage with children in a safe, caring, and developmentally appropriate environment
โ€ข Support the lead aftercare staff with supervision, activity facilitation, and snack distribution
โ€ข Take initiative in setting up and leading games, projects, or creative activities
โ€ข Walk students to the health office and communicate with school staff as needed
โ€ข Support conflict resolution and help guide children through problem-solving
โ€ข Ensure safety and uphold positive behavioral expectations
โ€ข Foster independence by assisting children with clean-up and age-appropriate responsibilities
โ€ข Contribute ideas for improving the aftercare experience and program structure
Qualifications:
โ€ข Minimum Bachelor's Degree from a four-year accredited college
โ€ข Experience working with children (camp, aftercare, classroom, tutoring, etc.)
โ€ข Enthusiastic about learning and contributing to a team
โ€ข Strong communication and interpersonal skills
