Job Title:Afterschool Program Paraprofessional

Salary Grade:$18.03 - $19.17 per hourย 

Work Year:Monday - Thursday 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm, Friday 8:00 am - 12:00 pm May through mid-June

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT:ย The successful candidate will be required to complete fingerprinting through an approved fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.

POSITION SUMMARY:ย The After-School Preschool Program Employee is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for preschool-aged children during after-school hours. This includes planning and implementing age-appropriate activities, supervising children, and ensuring adherence to program policies and safety regulations. This individual will foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff, and promote the overall well-being and development of each child in the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDย  RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Supervise and monitor the safety of children at all times.

Plan, prepare, and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate activities, incorporating elements such as arts, music, storytelling, and outdoor play.

Maintain open and effective communication with parents/guardians, providing regular updates on their child's progress and addressing any concerns.

Foster a positive and supportive environment.

Help children develop good hygiene habits.

Maintain a clean and organized program space, adhering to health and safety regulations.

Address challenging behaviors constructively and with a child-centered approach.

EXPERIENCE:ย 

Experience working with preschool-aged children in a classroom or after-school setting is required

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues.

Patience, creativity, and adaptability in a dynamic environment

Knowledge of and experience in age-appropriate activities and child development principles

Ability to set clear expectations and implement effective behavior management strategies

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred

First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level is typical of a school district.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent sitting, bending, reaching;ย  stooping, squatting. Occasional lifting five (5) to twenty five (25) pounds.
