The mission of the Advisory and Assistance Support for Specialized Security Management program, in support of the Air Force Research Laboratory, Sensors Directorate (AFRL/RY), is to safeguard the research, development, and integration of advanced sensor technologies by implementing comprehensive security measures across personnel, industrial, information, and operations domains. This support ensures strict compliance with Department of Defense and Air Force security policies, enabling AFRL/RY to advance critical capabilities in radar, electro-optical/infrared systems, electronic warfare, signal processing, and threat identificationpreserving the United States Air Forces technological edge across air, space, and cyberspace.

ADV seeks a Senior Specialized Security Manager to support advanced security operations for the Air Force Research Laboratory, Sensors Directorate (AFRL/RY) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. This position ensures the protection of critical sensor technology development by overseeing comprehensive security functions spanning personnel, information, industrial, and operations security. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Special Access Programs (SAP) and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) environments and will play a key role in preserving the technological edge of the U.S. Air Force.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operate and maintain secure facilities with minimal supervision, manage classified information, and oversee access control systems, including facility access badges, visitor escorts, and entry/exit inspections.

  • Perform classification reviews, process inbound/outbound classified materials, and maintain document accountability databases, including magnetic media and data transfers. Manage personnel access using systems like JADE, DCII, and DISS.

  • Develop and implement Security Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA) programs, including SAP indoctrinations, and support Air Force SAP security compliance inspections.

  • Utilize security systems such as DISS, Scattered Castles, and JADE to manage access and clearances.

  • Track security clearance processing, monitor security incident investigations, and assist in preparing reports, Program Access Requests (PARs), and ensuring compliance with security regulations (e.g., DoDM 5205.07, ICD 705).

  • Develop and document program protection and system security inputs for various program documents (SOO, SOW, RFP, etc.) and recommend security policy changes to government security leads for compliance with DoD, USAF, and AFRL directives.

  • Analyze procedures for handling, controlling, and storing classified or critical weapon system hardware, and submit reports with recommended actions for improvements.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), security process flowcharts, and internal security instructions, while managing security-related correspondence and agreements with external agencies.

  • Conduct annual self-assessments, track unauthorized disclosures, evaluate information sensitivity, and assist in on-site security evaluations and reviews of contractor security procedures to provide technical recommendations for improvement.

  • Provide security-related technical assistance and support administrative functions for AFRL/RY Directorate organizations, groups, and committees.


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in security management, particularly within SAP or SCI environments.

  • TS/SCI clearance with eligibility for SAP access (within five-year scope). Eligible for Special Access Program (SAP) access and willing to undergo polygraph examinations as required.

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience with 4 years of security specialist experience (or 3 years of SAP security experience).

  • Proficiency in using DISS, DCII, JADE, and SAPNP systems.

  • Deep knowledge of DoD, USAF, AFMC, and AFRL security policies and guidelines and SCI and SAP regulations.

  • Experience with physical security systems, including COMSEC duties, and maintaining security of sensitive information and materials.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Security Professional Fundamentals Certification (SFPC), Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC), or equivalent training.
